With relevance from a country, "Brain-Drain" is known as the outflow of talents.

This phenomenon usually happens due to the push and pulls factors from within or outside the country. In Singapore, this small yet prospering island with a population of approximately 4.5 million seems to be competing for survival in a fast pacing speed, regardless of age, race or gender. We were being provided with education, shelter, food, protection, and care and equipped with the essential skills which resulted in the latter generations to be well skilled and talented.

As time goes by, the population gets smarter, the competition gets tougher, everyone becomes talented and government welcoming foreign talents. Similarly, in Singapore the living standards and expectation are getting higher and a group of the population may feel “suffocated” and had to resort in “moving out of the country” for further development/stay. A great example will be that local universities are getting crowded with foreign students, favoring only the JC students, leaving limited opportunities for polytechnic students. This leads to the students who achieved with average results to no options but to pursue further overseas studies. Subsequently, students may opt to remain abroad. Similarly, the increased living standards and implement of certain government policies may drive Singapore citizens out of the country to look for better “homelands” with monetary/job opportunities.

In my opinion, the main reason for “Brain-Drain” to happen commonly in Singapore is because the increasingly talented population yearns for a better standard living that satisfies their needs within their monetary limits and has to leave Singapore for a country which they’re comfortable with.

caught "Crime and Investigation Network" channel whenever I could.
yeap.

disturbing.
watching those real photos/video footages of those witnesses/suspects/authorities/victims was only one of the reason.

the disturbing fact is that I was shown to the ugly side of the humans, telling me how bad is this society becoming to.

infants
toddlers
kids
teenagers
adults
elderly

they could be victims and culprits.
but there must be something to drive them to commit crimes.

inhumane
cruel
brutal
hideous
ruthless

whatever you can use to describe them.
i'm just so intimidated yet curious by their actions/thoughts.

1. On one side, mother was making her infant son sick. On the other side, she panicked and urged the hospital to save her son. One incident, she injected large amount of insulin which caused insufficient glucose level in her INFANT son, permanent brain damage. Authority investigations showed that it was HER whom had tried to harm her son. But she claimed that her son was sick and no one believed her. She was being interviewed, from the first time I saw her talked, I knew she was mentally unstable. 2nd incident, she injected large amount of caffine into her daughter and yeap, she died. Now her son gets fits now and then, can't speak, can't taste, can't see, can't stand. This kinda people are mentally unstable whereby they DO THINGS TO SEEK ATTENTION. but contradictingly, she abandoned the ill son into some home without visiting, started a new family with 2 kids and surprisingly, everything was fine. Ok, weird but evidences clearly shown she murdered her daughter on purpose.

2. Father refused to accept the fact that his son was mentally unwell. All I remembered was that he sorta had an arguement or what with his father, shot his father dead in the bathroom. Mother saw and was killed by him as well. Instead, he stayed with their dead bodies for a day. Next day in school, he went on a RAMPAGE KILLING in his school as well. 15 years old, if i'm not wrong. Before the killings, he kept complaining about the "voices in his head". And those "voices" triggered him to kill.

3. Rampage killers show signs but were ignored. They mainly struck with hatred or revenge, in school campus. THEY KILL WHATEVER MOVES.

4. Human remains revealed in a 2 acres of land. The men stole something, then authorities searched their homes and this tradegy only revealed WHEN A DOG HAD A PIECE OF CHARRED BONE IN ITS MOUTH. 25 victims including a 1 yr old infant. 2 men gathered, built a bunker to keep SEX SLAVES. Just because one of the men read a book and developed this fantasy of keeping a sex slave. There were video footages. Authorities claimed to be surprisingly disturbed by it as they watched it without being mentally prepared. One thing for sure, they were totally inhumane. Not only the killing part but the sex slaves part too.

5. A young girl delievers newspapers daily as usual. Went missing, found dead in the forst behind a building which she usually delievered papers to. Done by one of the resident in the building whom usually received papers from her. He knew about her routines and also through his mother whom used to be her babysitter. First he knocked her out by knocking her head onto something/somewhere, then raped her. Then carried the unconscious her into the forest, dumped her and SLIT her throat.

6. Old man, conned old women by living out of them. Lived with this old woman and she thought she had managed to find true love after the death of her husband. It was when one day, her old aunt was murdered by her boyfriend whom went missing after that. Apparently, by killing her aunt, the inheritance goes to them. Now her aunt dead, boyfriend missing, with lots of debts and no house. She was only convinced YEARS LATER that her boyfriend was a swindler and decided to sue him. I was feeling quite sympathic towards her lah, cause she invested so much money and love on him. But he took away her aunt, money and cheated her feelings. She so old le lah!

These were the few ones which left deep impressions in me.
I pondered.
I wondered.
what gave them the courage to kill?
what made them kill?

don't just think in the criminal's point of view.
I put myself in the victim's shoe too.
how painful was it?
victim's family/friends.
how could they accept the fact?

I'm just so disturbed by the ugly sides of humans.
the society is intimidating and threatening.
honestly I'm rather affected by it whenever the thought of going to Australia for studies.
=/

humans are braver that I've thought.

okay, i need to turn in.
what i've mentioned were based on my thoughts ah.
no offence.
no anything.
thank you.
